Drilling Engineer / Senior Drilling Engineer - Houston

Oscar Associates have been retained by a leading global oil operator to find the very best drilling engineers and senior drilling engineers for their Houston office.

Ideally you will already be working for an oil operator and have at least 5 years of experience as a drilling engineer as well as a university degree.

You will be charged with preparing detailed well designs for exploration, appraisal and development wells, with input into engineering calculations, such as torque & drag and casing design as well as specifying drilling muds. During the drilling phase you will provide operational support to the drilling rig and its crew. Ideally you will have exposure to sub salt wells and deepwater operations.

Additional qualities required in a candidate are:

• A high degree of computer literacy with of Landmark, Compass etc
• Exposure to risk assessment
• Exposure to probalistic cost estimation
• Commitment to HSE
• Annular pressure build-up, BHA design
• The ability to coach and mentor junior staff
