

HES Specialist- Manager

Position Overview:
Chevron International Exploration and Production Company is accepting online applications for the position of HES Specialist-Advisor (0708-50179912)located in Houston, Texas.
This assignment is on the Technical Support Team, part of the Global Upstream HES Headquarters staff based in Houston. The position provides safety/IH/OH subject matter expert support to other GU HES HQ teams and to all GU business units around the world.
Position will require domestic and international travel (up to 30%) to any of Chevron’s Global Upstream operations, some of which have difficult working conditions. Travel may include occasional travel to offshore facilities by helicopter or boat.
Leads Office Safety Program for GU and UC employees/contractors based in downtown Houston and San Ramon (~3000 employees). Program includes RSIP, Motor Vehicle Safety, Behavior Based Safety, Incident Investigation & Reporting and Emergency Management OE Processes as they apply in an office environment. Facilitates GU Office Safety Steering Committee meetings, tracks/reports on safety performance, initiates incident investigations and coordinates implementation of relevant GU OE processes as they are deployed.
Works with GU HES staff, SBUs and ETC to develop and maintain the GU HES Technology Development Budget. Establishes periodic reviews with key ETC project managers to assess progress, ensure alignment and manage budget. Develops GU input for the HES Focus Area.
Represents Global Upstream on Corporate/enterprise level health/safety teams and studies. (e.g., CVX Occupational Exposures Committee, CNAEP Upstream Epidemiology Study)
Participates on select industry teams/committees (OGP, IPIECA and API) and in discussion with external organizations (World Bank/IFC, NGOs) on health & safety issues.
Develops GU comments on emerging global safety regulations and standards.
Provides subject matter expertise advising GU SBUs, MCP teams and GU Management on technical aspects of health and safety issues.
SPECIAL SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS OR ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS/INFORMATION:
- Bachelor’s degree required in Science, Engineering.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
Technical Expertise - Demonstrated safety IH/OH technical expertise at a global level with particular emphasis on BBS, MVS, IIR, EM and RSIP processes.
Communication - Ability to communicate in a clear, concise & understandable manner, both orally & in writing; effective listener who encourages the open sharing of ideas.
Teamwork - ability to work effectively with all functions in the GU HQ and UC organizations, including MCP teams, SCM, Finance, HR, etc., as well as GU executives. Demonstrated experience organizing, leading and facilitating teams, and delivering results.
