Our client in Australia has a staff requirement for a Petrophysicist. To provide petrophysical expertise to the Exploration P&D department by processing, analysing and interpreting geological data acquired in wells, in order to perform formation evaluation tasks with respect to wells in * To ensure QC of the well data coming from headquarters and subsidiaries, local authorities (Department of Trade and Industry) and external entities such as oil companies and service contractors and maintain company well databases. To ensure well data exchange between headquarters and subsidiaries, local authorities (Department of Trade and Industry) and external entities such as oil companies and service contractors through the corporate and CDA databases. To keep abreast of developments in the methodologies and applications for petrophysical data processing and corporate databasing, sharing key knowledge with relevant departments. To assist the Procurement department in evaluating bids of tenders for Wireline Logging, LWD and Core Analysis activities. * To process and interpret electric log data collected by the logging contractor, in cooperation with the Exploration team and under the direction of his/her supervisor. To carry out quantitative evaluation of hydrocarbon zones, to determine petrophysical parameters (porosity, water saturation and salinity, pay thickness). To carry out computerised analysis (C.P.I.) of log data, in cooperation with the Exploration team and under the direction of his/her supervisor. To carry out Well Test interpretations for the Exploration Department. * To monitor technically the work performed by logging and core analysis contractor in relation with operated wells. * To monitor partners operations with respect to Log Acquisition, Core Analysis and Petrophysical Interpretation. * To evaluate well results by fully utilising all the available well data (Logs, Core, RFT Measurements, Lithology Log, Well Test, etc.)
Skills Required :
BSc Geology or Petroleum Engineering. Additional Specialised Knowledge or Skills: Familiarity with all common types of well logs and other data/methods used to evaluate petrophysical parameters and results from them: some geological and reservoir engineering knowledge. Knowledge of core analysis techniques. Relevant experience with North Sea Operator or service company. Previous knowledge of Elan Special Aptitudes or Personality Attributes Required: Good knowledge of computer programs utilised to handle and interpret Logs. Knowledge of Well Test interpretation and relative computer programs (e.g. Saphir Kappa). May be required to make offshore visits.
Qualifications
* Reports directly to the Exploration Manager. * Interaction within the Exploration Department with other department employees. * Interaction with other departments * Interaction with Exploration Team Leaders as a Team Member assigned part time on specific projects. * Liaison with other operators’ and partners’ petrophysicists. * Liaison with contractors in the area of competence. * Liaison with Local Authorities (DTI).
