S. Louisiana Gas Condensate Prospect

We are seeking a blended capital structure for this project. Its an extremely interesting Louisiana Gas/ Condensate Project. Client has secured 2 land leases and negotiated the terms of a 3rd. Based on the 2 leases secured its estimated that there is 200 billion cf (mid range) 575 billion cf (top end) of reserves. The average recovery ratio for gas that they've used to construct their models is about 80%. This equates to (6,000 cubic ft = 1 BOE) 66MM BOE or top end 83MM BOE x 80% recovery. It's a considerable reserve and a very exciting gas play. The economics and proforma we have takes a conservative view on reserve expectations due to general technical prudence and a wish not set field development thresholds to high....

All of us know about the current liquidity crunch facing the O&G sector. I had a couple of queries around the same. Lets see what the general opinion is:

1. How do you see the trend of PE cash flows in M&A activities in oil and gas sector for coming next couple of years?
2. Considering the current global liquidity crunch, how would you comment on the role of PE firms as a tool for financing deals in oil and gas sector?
3. Do you feel that increasing power of SWFs and oil-rich countries in M&As have been a main factor responsible to accelerate the activities in the oil and gas deal market? ...

Canada Announces C$1.5 Billion Biofuels Incentives Program

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced ecoENERGY for Biofuels, which will provide C$1.5 billion (US$1.4 billion, €1.1 billion) in incentives over nine years to producers of renewable alternatives to gasoline and diesel fuel.
Last December, Canada announced a new regulation requiring a 5% average renewable content in gasoline by 2010. At that time, the government also signalled its intention to develop a similar requirement of 2% renewable content for diesel and heating oil by 2012. (Earlier post.)...
